FAQs

What Are the Four Core Independent Living Services?

Independent living centers focus on empowering individuals with disabilities or those transitioning to self-sufficiency through four key services:

  1. Advocacy – Helping individuals access their rights, resources, and services needed for independent living.
  2. Peer Support – Providing mentorship and encouragement from individuals who have successfully navigated independent living.
  3. Skills Training – Teaching essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, job readiness, and transportation management.
  4. Information & Referral Services – Connecting individuals with housing, healthcare, employment, and educational opportunities.

These core services are designed to provide individuals with the confidence and resources needed to live independently while remaining engaged in their communities.

How Much Does Assisted Living Cost in San Antonio?

The cost of assisted living in San Antonio varies based on the level of care, amenities, and location. On average:

  • Basic Assisted Living: $3,500 – $4,500 per month

  • Memory Care Facilities: $4,500 – $6,000 per month

  • Luxury or Specialized Care: $5,000+ per month

For those who qualify, financial assistance programs such as Medicaid waivers, VA benefits, and nonprofit resources may help cover costs. Independent living services, which focus on supporting self-sufficiency rather than full-time care, can be a more affordable alternative for those who don’t require 24/7 assistance.
